“Next year is going to be year zero for Italian esports, again.”
This is a saying in the Italian community which is relevant to understanding the esports market because it is a representation of what the stakeholders of the esports industry feel due to the challenges facing Italy’s abilities to take esports beyond the country’s boundaries. However Italy is making a name for themselves in esports with the following notable organizations:
- Totem Esports: Totem Esports (also known as Reply Totem) is an esports team founded in 2019 by entrepreneurs and professionals with an international staff and is focused on the selection and growth of players, influencers and content creators. Some of the titles they play are Clash Royale, Brawl Stars, Call of Duty: Warzone, and FC 25. They offer services in social media, marketing, legal assistance, graphic design, logistics and event organization.
- Exeed: Exeed is an esports organization in Italy that started off as a passion project in 2018. They now have connections with about 4 million fans, bringing together competitive players and influential gaming personalities, creating memorable experiences for the esports community. They have shown high performance in tournaments such as eSerie A, FIFAe World Cup and FIFAe Nations Cup, landing semi-finalist and winner slots.
- Macko Esports: Macko Esports was founded in 2020 by businessman and famous tattoo artist Antonio Macko Todisco, and in less than 2 years the organization has jumped to the top three leading organizations in terms of fanbase, brand recognition and championship victories. They are also one of the organizations with a Gaming House, a 4000sqm compound in glamorous Monopoli, Puglia. Macko Esports also took part in European championships such as League of Legends European Masters and Rainbow Six European Challenger League.
- NOVO Esports: Headed by Emanuel Acerbis, NOVO Esports is an esports organization that aims to bring esports mainstream in Italy. Their vision and mission is to become the reference point in the esports sector that represents Italy in the world and to create innovative and diverse experiences for a passionate community of gamers.
- QLASH: QLASH is an esports and gaming community with branches in Italy, Spain and Egypt and recognized as the #1 leading esports organization in Italy. They have a QLASH community app that allows for you to play tournaments, win daily prizes, with several games and modes supported, and sponsors also allowed to brand tournaments. They have the QLASH House which is used as a training facility for bootcamps, physical and technical preparation. It is also used as a media farm for content production and live events organization where multiple influencers live stream and create content from there.
