Requirements For Recruiting In The Gaming Industry

Featured Copilot: Microsoft Copilot

To recruit for the gaming industry, one must have a deep understanding of the sector i.e. its challenges and opportunities. Below are some strategies to employ for a successful recruitment:

  • Evaluate Candidate Portfolios: Having a portfolio is important to the recruitment process in the gaming industry. This is what recruiters look for to determine candidate contributions to their teams and organization as a whole. What you will be reviewing as a recruiter is the games that candidates have worked on to assess their skills, creativity and abilities.

  • Focus on Quality of Work: Do not just focus on big-name gaming companies candidates may have worked with. Great talent can be found anywhere, and as long as you look closely, you will be able to determine who fits best per the quality of work that has been produced by them.

  • Have Engaging Career Pages: A way to attract more candidates for employment will be to use informative career pages. This should highlight the values, culture and benefits of working with your company. Employee testimonials and videos showcasing the company can help your company stand out.

  • Use Passion for Gaming as a Guide: Having a passion for gaming can help with the identification of candidates who are equally passionate about the gaming industry. Having an understanding for and appreciation of gaming can help with making informed decisions and connect with candidates better.

  • Leverage Game Fairs: By hosting fairs and events such as “game hackathons” (events where people get together to make video games from scratch in a matter of days), you can engage and interact with gaming professionals in real time as they use these events as an opportunity to demonstrate their skills.
