Kenya has a new esports president! We throw the spotlight on Ronny Lusigi, newly elected president of the Esports Kenya Federation.
Esports has seen a steady rise in Africa as it is in its early stages with a growing population of young people, the rise of mobile gaming and improved Internet access in parts of Africa. These and more compelling stories of esports are getting told with Ronny playing his part in championing the esports movement in East Africa, as he uses his position as an esports columnist with one of Kenya’s leading names in independent media brands, NationAfrica.
His work grew into something bigger as this cause to have esports take its place in East Africa became more important to establish, and he did this by starting up his own company, IndexG Esports. They are tagged the “Premier East African Esports Agency”, and they focus on generating esports content, organizing tournaments, and offering consultancy services to brands looking to join the esports space.

Currently he is the president of the Esports Kenya Federation, an esports organization that seeks to create an enabling environment for esports to grow and thrive in Kenya, and he looks forward to being expansive with the vision he has for esports in East Africa and the rest of the continent.
We had Ronny as a guest on Season 2, Episode 15 of the Gamers Change Lives Podcast! He shared insights on navigating media strategies and attending international esports events. We could not get enough of Ronny’s broad knowledge on esports, hence having him as a speaker on our maiden LinkedIn Live event, Game On Africa, where he (and two other incredible speakers) shared on the importance of having esports be considered a catalyst for growth and opportunity.
